Employment & Labour Law
The Legal Accord provides legal advice and representation to employers, employees and business organizations on employment, labour and workplace matters across Pakistan. We assist clients with employment documentation, workplace disputes, disciplinary proceedings, termination matters, labour litigation and regulatory compliance.
Our approach combines practical employment advice with a careful understanding of Pakistan’s federal and provincial labour-law framework.
Overview:
Employment and labour law in Pakistan is governed by a combination of federal and provincial legislation, and the applicable law may vary depending on the location, nature and territorial scope of the establishment.
At the federal level, the Industrial Relations Act, 2012 governs industrial relations in matters falling within its jurisdiction. Following devolution, provinces also maintain their own labour legislation; for example, Sindh operates under the Sindh Industrial Relations Act, 2013, which regulates trade unions and relations between employers and workers within the province.
Other relevant areas include wages, standing orders, working conditions, social security, workplace safety and employment benefits under applicable federal or provincial laws.
Our Approach to Employment & Labour Matters
At The Legal Accord, we begin by examining the employment relationship, appointment terms, applicable policies, statutory classification of the employee or worker and the relevant federal or provincial legislation.
For employers, our focus includes compliance, risk management and the development of legally sound employment practices. For employees, we assess contractual and statutory rights and the remedies available before the appropriate forum.
Where disputes arise, we seek practical resolution through negotiation where possible while remaining prepared to pursue or defend proceedings before Labour Courts, tribunals and other competent authorities.

Employment Contracts & Workplace Policies
Clear employment documentation can significantly reduce the risk of disputes.
The Legal Accord assists employers with drafting and reviewing employment agreements, appointment letters, confidentiality provisions, workplace policies, disciplinary procedures and separation documentation.
We also advise employees on the interpretation and enforcement of contractual terms and statutory employment rights.
Termination, Discipline & Workplace Disputes
Termination and disciplinary matters require careful compliance with applicable contractual terms and labour legislation.
We advise on show-cause notices, inquiries, misconduct allegations, dismissal, redundancy, retrenchment and other forms of separation.
Where proceedings are challenged, we represent clients before the appropriate labour or judicial forum and advise on reinstatement, compensation and other available remedies.
Industrial Relations & Labour Litigation
The Industrial Relations Act, 2012 forms part of Pakistan’s federal labour-law framework, while provincial industrial-relations laws apply within their respective jurisdictions. These laws regulate matters including trade unions, collective bargaining and industrial disputes.
The Legal Accord represents employers and workers in labour disputes, industrial-relations proceedings and related appeals before competent forums.
Wages, Benefits & Statutory Compliance
Pakistan’s labour framework also includes legislation dealing with matters such as minimum wages, payment of wages, compensation and other employment protections, with the applicable regime depending on the relevant jurisdiction and establishment. Pakistan Code continues to list federal labour statutes including the Minimum Wages Ordinance, 1961, Payment of Wages Act, 1936 and Workmen’s Compensation Act, 1923 within the federal legislative framework.
We assist employers in identifying applicable obligations and employees in assessing claims involving wages, benefits and statutory entitlements.
